Genesis of network security
in 1975 :
- AS400 with passive screens 5250 (in opposition
to PC screens)
- restricted park,
- well controlled geographical implementation of the terminals
- security with applicative mode
with a system menu the user cannot do everything, use restrictions
- + object-base security ("end car")
For 10 years, TCP/IP World Wide
Web has been appeared such as services provided to LAN and process
(daemons) which answer the external requests and do several things
(clock update, but also files updating - on an IBM AS400-iSeries
about thirty of these process are active at the starting of the
machine)...
Non-exhaustive list of these daemons:
- FTP,
- Web servers,
- SMB files sharing (Windows),
- NFS files sharing (Unix)...
- What can the daemons do?
